The summer days are around the corner. Heat and humidity have already started making their presence felt. While its fun play time for the kids, its fun time for the insects too as they go around from plants to plant and human to human on their jolly way enjoying the summer fun. Depending on where you live, insect repellents may become a requisite from season to season, summer being one of those. Insect repellents come in handy especially when you are travelling on nature's trail. so based on your requirements, here is out small bit of help so you can make better choices for your child's safety from the biters and stingers.

1. Know your options: For most part, insect repellents are divided into natural and chemical ones. So get to know your options and their ingredients, effects and side effects well. Once you have decided wether you want to go natural or are comfortable with chemical options, you can choose the options that are effective at warding of insects while being safe for your child to use. Another thing to be considered when buying the repellent is wether the products works for biting or stinging insects and what your requirement is. Choose accordingly.

2. More options: Once you are done deciding on wether to goo natural or chemical, now comes the question of what form to use it in. both chemicals and natural repellents come in options like sprays, creams, roll on's, gels, lotions, candles, bracelets, stickers etc. Usually its best to choose your repellent based on where it is to be used and how long it will last depending on the climatic conditions. At home repellent sprays, mats, coils, candles etc will do the trick. When out doors, its best to go for creams, sprays, lotions bracelets etc.

3. Value for money: When spending your hard earned moolah, make sure you spend it on products that are worth it. The money that you spend should justify its worth in terms of how long the product will last, how effective and safe it is. also consider the size of the packaging and how much of it is required on each occasion of use. Safety is one of the major concerns that should be taken into account. safety of both your children and the environment.

4. Go the DIY way: Many effective DIY options have cropped up over the internet in the recent years. These options are usually safe, effective and easy on the pockets. Some of the "recipes" may require special ingredients while some others make do with ingredients in your kitchen. With DIY there is a decent amount of effort that is required on a daily basis. So go for these options only if you are committed to the task at hand.

With every kind of repellent there will be precautions that need to be observed. Misusing them or using them inappropriately may prove to have severe consequences. So always read the label for ingredients, was to use, precautions and warnings. If your repellent comes from the shop, make sure you use it responsibly because the children most definitely won't.
